La Grande Parade is an essay by French philosopher Jean-François Revel, published in 2000. In this book, Revel analyzes the persistence of the socialist utopia after the collapse of the Soviet bloc, arguing that the international left has made efforts to retrospectively justify socialism and avoid critical reflection on its mistakes. Revel criticizes what he considers a rejection of history and a recourse to Stalinist methods, as well as a primary anti-Americanism and a rejection of freedom in the name of justice.
Jean-François Revel was a French philosopher, journalist, and author. A prominent public intellectual, Revel was a socialist in his youth but later became a prominent European proponent of classical liberalism and free market economics. He was a member of the Académie française after June 1998. He is best known for his book Without Marx or Jesus: The New American Revolution Has Begun, published in French in 1970.
