La Maternitat d'Elna is an essential story that narrates one of the most dramatic and unknown chapters of the post-war period. Between 1939 and 1944, Elisabeth Eidenbenz, a Swiss woman, saved the lives of 597 children, children of exiled Catalan and Spanish women who lived in precarious conditions in the Republican refugee camps. Thanks to the work of the historian Assumpta Montellà, many stories have been revealed in this book, which is already a contemporary classic.
