«La paja en el ojo de Dios I» is the science fiction novel by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle, published in 1985 in paperback (567 pages, in Spanish).

The novel is set in the Second Empire of Man, which has not yet made contact with other species. The discovery of a space yacht with a dead alien, arrived from the star known as the Mote 35 light-years away, leads a human expedition to an ancient and seemingly friendly civilization that hides a grave secret.

First part of the Spanish edition in two volumes, originally published as The Mote in God's Eye (1974). Number 36 of the Biblioteca de Ciencia Ficción collection; begins the Moties series by Niven and Pournelle.
