«Le roi Arthur» is the young adult novel by Michael Morpurgo, published by Folio Junior in paperback (272 pages, in French).
Arthur, now king, tells his life to a boy of today: a story of love, tragedy, magic and mystery that starts in his childhood and takes him to the Round Table and its knights, with triumphs and disasters. The narrative turns the Arthurian legend into an intimate and thrilling tale.
The work was originally published in English in 1994 as Arthur, High King of Britain; this 2007 French edition features a translation by Noël Chassériau and illustrations by Michael Foreman.
Aimed at children and young readers aged 9 to 13, with an interest in the Arthurian legend.

Sir Michael Andrew Bridge Morpurgo is an English book author, poet, playwright, and librettist who is known best for children's novels such as War Horse (1982). His work is noted for its "magical storytelling", for recurring themes such as the triumph of an outsider or survival, for characters' relationships with nature, and for vivid settings such as the Cornish coast or the trenches of the First World War. Morpurgo was the third Children's Laureate, from 2003 to 2005, and is President of BookTrust, a children's reading charity.
