«Les Fantômes du Vieux Bourg» is the graphic novel by Efix and Jean-Pierre Levaray, published by Editions Petit à Petit in paperback (138 pages, in French).
The narrator, a factory worker, spots a man trying to retrieve a metal plate in the middle of traffic next to the factory. That encounter makes him notice the Vieux Bourg, a neighboring district he had always ignored, and its forgotten inhabitants; the story reflects on poverty, guilt and the invisibility of the marginalized.
The work was first published on November 6, 2008; it belongs to the BD Jeunesse collection from Petit à Petit.
Aimed at a young and adult readership: the social tone and urban theme also appeal to adult readers.
