«L'instint» is the novel by Sergi Pàmies, published in 1992 by Quaderns Crema in paperback (170 pages, in Catalan).
A small village loses its electricity and, from that accidental and fantastical event, the plot chains together stories of characters trapped by adversity. With an effective style and without renouncing tenderness, Sergi Pàmies portrays the greatness and miseries of an imaginary village where people, river, animals, plants, and objects share the spotlight.
«L'instint» is part of the Biblioteca Mínima collection (number 29) and won the Premi Prudenci Bertrana in 1993.
It will appeal to readers of contemporary fiction in Catalan and to those who follow the work of Sergi Pàmies.
