«Llibre de les bèsties» is the moral novel by Ramon Llull, edited by Ferran Gadea Gambús, published by Proa in paperback (129 pages, in Catalan).
Llibre de les bèsties transfers the world of men to the animal universe: after the lion is chosen as king, the fox weaves a web of intrigues to seize power. The narrative, dotted with short fables or exempla, outlines a theory of power in a society oscillating between feudalism and royal authority.
Catalan edition with introduction and study proposals by Ferran Gadea; part of the Les Eines collection.
Suitable for young readers and school use, with didactic material that facilitates study of the work.

Ramon Llull, sometimes anglicized as Raymond Lully, was a Catholic philosopher, theologian, poet, missionary, apologist and former knight, born in Palma de Mallorca. He invented a philosophical system known as the Art, conceived as a type of universal logic to prove the truth of Christian doctrine to interlocutors of all faiths and nationalities. The Art consists of a set of general principles and combinatorial operations. It is illustrated with diagrams.
