«L'ombra del Stuka» is the young adult novel by Pau Joan Hernández i de Fuenmayor, published by Editorial Empúries in paperback (160 pages, in Catalan).
In a village by the Ebro, fifteen-year-olds Elvira and Roger spend their summer amid ghost legends and memories of the downing of a Condor Legion Stuka in April 1938. The arrival of David, a young German who wants to reconstruct his family's history, will make the specters of the past break fifty years of silence.
The novel belongs to the L'Odissea collection from Editorial Empúries and received the Premi Crítica Serra d'Or for children's and young adult literature in 1999.
Recommended for young readers and for adults interested in the Spanish Civil War and family memory.
