«Na fogueira dos versos» is the children's and young adult poetry collection by Antonio García Teijeiro, published by Edicións Xerais in paperback (64 pages, in Galician).
The collection brings together 29 short compositions in which the Galician author draws on verses by classic poets of the Galician tradition, such as Martín Códax, Rosalía de Castro and Celso Emilio Ferreiro, to recreate them and transform them into a voice of his own. The result is clear, accessible poetry that combines spontaneity, reflection and sensitivity in small literary pieces intended for young readers.
It belongs to the Merlín collection from Edicións Xerais, aimed at readers aged 11 and up. It won the Merlín Prize for Children's Literature in 1996. The book includes illustrations by Luís Enjamio.
Recommended for young readers aged 11 and over and for anyone wishing to approach contemporary Galician poetry through a creative dialogue with its major authors.
