«Pica, pica, varicela» is a children's rhyme book by Grace Maccarone, published by Scholastic in paperback (30 pages, in Spanish).
A child recounts in rhyme their experience with chickenpox: the itching, the spots, and the care, while their dog accompanies them. With a humorous and approachable tone, it turns a common childhood illness into a manageable experience for the little ones.
It belongs to the series «Hola, Lector!, Nivel 1», designed for early readers. Includes illustrations by Betsy Lewin.
Recommended for preschool and first-grade children, and useful for treating chickenpox with humor at home or in the classroom.
Grace Maccarone is an American children’s book editor and author, notably of Miss Lina’s Ballerinas, illustrated by Christine Davenier, and its sequel Miss Lina’s Ballerinas and the Prince. She has also worked as an editor at Scholastic, Wireless Generation, and currently Holiday House.
