«Pudor» is a contemporary fiction novel by Peruvian writer Santiago Roncagliolo, published by Alfaguara in paperback (184 pages, in Spanish).
The novel explores the intimacy of a family and the secrets its members do not confess even to those closest to them: a man who knows he is going to die, a woman who receives anonymous letters of a sexual nature, and a child who witnesses unsettling scenes. Roncagliolo combines sadness, sordidness and comedy to portray the loneliness of those who live together without ever truly knowing each other.
Originally published in 2004, this edition came out in 2005. It belongs to Alfaguara's Hispánica collection and the novel was adapted into a movie.
Readers of contemporary fiction interested in family intimacy and stories that blend the dark and the comic.
