«Pudor» is the novel by Peruvian writer Santiago Roncagliolo, published by Punto de Lectura in paperback (192 pages, in Spanish).
The novel portrays a family that lives under the same roof but is emotionally isolated: a man close to death, a woman receiving anonymous erotic letters, a boy who sees corpses, and a cat with a sexual appetite. Between the tragic and the comic, it addresses the desires and fears we do not confess even to those we love most.
The novel was originally published in 2004 and this edition is from 2007; it falls within contemporary fiction and has also been classified as a family saga.
Aimed at the general public interested in Spanish-language fiction and in stories that combine drama and humor.
Santiago Rafael Roncagliolo Lohmann is a Peruvian writer, screenwriter, translator and journalist. He has written five novels about fear. He is also author of a trilogy of non-fiction books on Latin America during the twentieth century.
