«Sandàlies d'escuma» is the historical novel by Maria Àngels Anglada, published by L'Avenç in paperback (144 pages, in Catalan).
Glauca of Chios, now elderly, narrates her life in the manner of Hellenistic epic poems. She belongs to a well-off family that cultivates vines on the island of Chios in third-century BC Greece. The novel follows her first loves, the raising of her deceased sister's children, a marriage of convenience, and her definitive relationship, which takes her to Athens; in her gaze, shaped by poetry and music, memory, family, mythology, and the Mediterranean landscape are reflected.
Novel originally published in 1985, reissued in 2017 in the Sèrie Literatures collection of L'Avenç.
