«Soldados de Salamina» is a historical novel by Javier Cercas, published in 2001 in hardcover (220 pages, in Spanish).
A journalist investigates the story of Rafael Sánchez Mazas, ideologue of Falange, who during the Spanish Civil War managed to escape a firing squad and was spared by an anonymous militiaman who could have killed him. Through that investigation, the novel blends literature and journalism to address historical memory, forgiveness, and the search for truth.
The novel received the Salambó, Cálamo, and Ciutat de Barcelona awards in 2001, and was adapted into a movie of the same name.
A novel for readers of historical fiction and contemporary Spanish literature.
Novelista y ensayista español, autor de Soldados de Salamina, Anatomía de un instante y la trilogía de Terra Alta.
