«Tartarina di Racalmuto» is the children's book by Roberta Grazzani, published by Piemme in paperback (89 pages, in Italian).
Gaspare, Nerina and their cousins spend the holidays in Sicily, at their uncles' house. At the market in Racalmuto they find a stall selling tortoises and decide to adopt one, which they call Tartarina. Although they offer her the best vegetables, Tartarina does not come out of her shell; the children understand that she needs to return to her natural environment.
«Tartarina di Racalmuto» belongs to the Il battello a vapore collection, in the Serie azzurra, and features illustrations by C. Bordoni.
Aimed at young readers aged 7 and up; a story suitable for talking about animal care and respect for their habitat.
