«Wolvensaga» is the young adult fantasy novel by Käthe Recheis, published by VBK Media in paperback (444 pages, in Dutch).
The novel follows a pack of wolves living in balance with nature, governed by an ancient law. That peace is broken when a giant black wolf arrives from the north intending to subjugate all living beings. A young wolf with visions refuses to accept his dominion and sets out on a journey south in search of a world where that law still holds.
Work originally published in German in 1994 as «Wolfsaga»; this Dutch edition dates from 1998.
Recommended for young and teenage readers who enjoy stories about wolves, nature, and fantasy.
Käthe Recheis was an Austrian children's literature writer. She was the recipient of an Austrian State Prize, an Austrian Decoration for Science and Art, a Kulturpreis des Landes Oberösterreich, and a Heinrich Gleißner Prize.
