«Romeo & Juliet» is the classical music album by Berlioz and Tchaikovsky, released in 1988 by MCA as a double CD.
The album brings together two orchestral versions of Shakespeare's drama: the dramatic symphony Romeo and Juliet, Op. 17, by Hector Berlioz, and the fantasy-overture Romeo and Juliet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The Vienna State Opera Orchestra, conducted by Hermann Scherchen, performs both works.
Digitally remastered recording, part of the 'double decker' series on the MCLASSICS label.
For those who enjoy orchestral classical music and want to compare two romantic versions of the same story.
