In 2012, Michel van Egmond wrote the mega-bestseller 'GIJP', a book about a man who spent all day on the couch watching television. It grew into the best-selling Dutch sports book of all time. 'The World According to Gijp' is the intimate account of one of the most turbulent years in the life of the Netherlands' most popular football analyst. The reader gets to know Van der Gijp's circle of friends - including Ruud Gullit, Dick Advocaat and football agent Rob Jansen - but also closely follows the main character during the great drama that befalls him when the mother of his youngest son suddenly dies and his lazy life is turned upside down overnight.
