"The Left Hand of Darkness" is a science fiction novel by Ursula K. Le Guin, set on the planet Gueden, also known as Winter due to its icy climate. Genly Ai, an envoy from the Ecumen, seeks to contact the inhabitants of Gueden and propose they join this league of planets. The Guedenians are unique for being hermaphrodites, adopting a sex only during kémmer, their time of heat. Ai meets Estraven, a high-ranking official who shows him a society without sexual differentiation. This edition, published by Minotauro in 2021, immerses the reader in a world where sexual identity challenges conventions.
