«La vraie révolution du microcrédit» is the essay by Jean-Michel Servet on the economics of microcredit, published by Odile Jacob in paperback (256 pages, in French).
The book reviews the success of microcredit, used by some 200 million people in Asia and Latin America, and questions the idea that it can eradicate poverty by fostering micro-entrepreneurship. Servet places its origin in the promotion of a supposedly liberating market and argues that the real revolution is the conversion of microfinance into a commercial activity that adds services such as savings, transfers, mobile phone payments and micro-insurance. He also presents this evolution as a possible basis for an alternative finance with money and credit as common goods.
Work by French economist Jean-Michel Servet, published in 2015 by Éditions Odile Jacob in the OJ.ECONOMIE collection.
