«L'enfer» is the psychological suspense novel by René Belletto, published by J'ai Lu in paperback (376 pages, in French).
Michel Soler, a man on the brink of despair, wanders alone through a deserted city suffocated by summer heat. An adverse fate drags him into a machination of terrors, violences, deaths and loves that seem of this world and yet are not. On his path appear fatal men and women and a diabolical yet adorable child, while his indifference, madness and humor push him to escape the infernal traps or perhaps to plunge into them.
The work won the Prix Femina and the Prix du Livre Inter. This J'ai Lu edition corresponds to number 3150 of its collection.
Recommended for readers of psychological suspense seeking a dark and absorbing novel of contemporary French literature.
