«Matando dinosaurios con tirachinas» is the novel by Pedro Maestre published by Destino in paperback (220 pages, in Spanish).
A graduate in philology, settled in Alcoy, faces adult life between unemployment, conscientious objection and an overprotective family. In a monologue of short paragraphs he evokes his childhood with his grandfather and clings to writing to ward off unease: a novel about leaving youth and illusions behind.
Winner of the 1996 Premio Nadal and number 757 in the Áncora y Delfín collection.
For readers of contemporary fiction, interested in rites of passage to adult life and in a humorous look at youth.
