«Mauricio o las elecciones primarias» is the contemporary fiction novel by Eduardo Mendoza, published by Booket in paperback (384 pages, in Spanish).

Mauricio, a dentist with ideals but no character, returns to Barcelona during the transition. A chain of coincidences lands him in the socialist party's campaign and links him to two very different women: the sensible Clotilde and Porritos, who shows him the murkiest side of that world. Behind it, a city eagerly awaits the 1992 Olympics while political disillusionment grows.
