«My Golden Trades» is a collection of six stories by Czech writer Ivan Klima, published by Penguin in paperback (288 pages, in English).
The work is set in Prague between 1983 and 1987 and portrays everyday life under late communism: a dance can be interrupted by the secret police and banned books circulate as currency. The six stories show the contradictions of a controlled society through very different trades.
The work was originally published in Czech in 1990 under the title «Moje zlatá řemesla»; this English version, translated by Paul Wilson, appeared at Penguin in 1993.
For readers of literary fiction and Central European narrative, especially those interested in stories set in communist regimes.

Ivan Klíma was a Czech novelist and playwright. He received the Magnesia Litera award and the Franz Kafka Prize, among other honours.
