«Silencio administrativo: la pobreza en el laberinto burocrático» is the essay by Sara Mesa, published by Editorial Anagrama in paperback (120 pages).
The essay reconstructs the real case of a homeless woman with a disability and illness who tries to access the minimum income announced by the administration. The bureaucratic journey, full of obstacles and excessive demands, drags her into despair while social prejudice grows, seeing the poor as privileged. Sara Mesa thus analyzes one of the origins of aporophobia: hatred of the poor.
It belongs to the Nuevos cuadernos Anagrama collection (no. 14) and is the first edition, published on January 23, 2019 in Barcelona.
Aimed at readers interested in inequality, human rights and social criticism, and at those who want to examine their prejudices towards poverty.
Sara Mesa is a Spanish writer, widely translated and internationally recognized. Born in Madrid, she has lived in Seville since childhood.
