Smara tells the story of a boy's journey to the Sahara desert, where he meets Grandmother Ugago, a powerful magician who shares the legends of her people, the Children of the Clouds. Through a narrative filled with magic, mystery, and a touch of melancholy, Paula Carballeira offers a lyrical reflection on sadness and personal growth. The book is beautifully illustrated by Carole Hénaff, whose work with collage and acrylics on wood captures the rustic textures and vibrant colors of the desert, creating an immersive and enigmatic visual experience.
