«Understanding Media» is Marshall McLuhan's essay on media and society, published by Routledge in paperback (400 pages, in English).
McLuhan examines how radio, television, photography, film and other media transform perception and social organization. His thesis is that the medium of communication, more than the content, is the main agent of cultural change: each technology reorganizes human experience.
Work originally published in 1964; this edition in the Routledge Classics series was published in 2005.
