«Visage volé» is the autobiographical testimony of Latifa, published by Le Livre de Poche in paperback (251 pages, in French).
In 1996, when the Taliban entered Kabul, Latifa was sixteen and wanted to be a journalist. Schools were closed and women were confined and forced to cover their faces. The account tells of her life under the regime, her determination to resist, her flight from the country and her fight for the freedom and dignity of Afghan women.
The subtitle of the work is «Avoir vingt ans à Kaboul»; the work originally appeared in 2001 and this edition is from 2003.
For readers interested in memoirs, the history of Afghanistan and the situation of women under the Taliban regime.
