«Visage volé. Avoir vingt ans à Kaboul» is Latifa's autobiographical account, in paperback, published by Le Grand Livre du Mois (243 pages, in French).
Latifa, born in Kabul in 1980, recounts how her life changed in 1996, when the Taliban seized power: they closed schools, forbade women from going out alone, and forced them to cover themselves with the burka. Faced with helplessness, she set up a clandestine school for girls in her home. A testimony to oppression and her flight to Europe.
Published in 2001, it is Latifa's first book, written with the collaboration of Chekeba Hachemi, founder of Afghanistan Libre; in English it was published as My Forbidden Face.
