«La Bible illustrée par le cinéma» is Monique Gilbert's illustrated book on biblical texts and movies, published by Edition No 1.
The book collects Old Testament texts adapted by Monique Gilbert and presents them alongside images from movies that have recreated those stories. It thus unites the biblical word and the cinematic image and offers a journey through the great episodes of the history of Israel on the big screen.
The edition opens with prefaces by the president of the Episcopal Conference of France, the president of the Protestant Federation of France and the Chief Rabbi of France. It was published in Paris in 1987.
A work for readers interested in the relationship between movies and the stories of the Old Testament.
