«L'islam des interdits» is the essay by Anne-Marie Delcambre, published in paperback by Desclée de Brouwer in 2003 (145 pages, in French).
Anne-Marie Delcambre rejects the distinction between a tolerant Islam and radical Islamism: many current obstacles to modernity —the condition of women, the status of Jews and Christians, holy war— are part of Islam itself and its tradition, not merely its deviations. The book advocates a lucid examination for authentic dialogue.
Anne-Marie Delcambre, doctor in law and Islamic civilization, is also the author of Mahomet, parole d'Allah and L'islam.
For readers interested in Islam, contemporary religious thought and the debate on modernity and fundamentalism.
