Synopsis of L'últim patriarca
L'últim patriarca es una historia de rebelión personal contra un orden establecido desde hace miles de años. Mimoun Driouch y su hija nacen para cumplir el papel que el patriarcado les ha asignado, pero unos cambios en las circunstancias que los rodean serán decisivos para propiciar el cambio del orden de las cosas. Esta es una historia familiar donde las contradicciones internas de los personajes afloran para marcar unas relaciones hechas de desencuentros. La hija quiere entender por qué su padre se ha convertido en una figura autoritaria y déspota, al mismo tiempo que inicia varios intentos para deshacerse del peso que tiene en su vida. La novela, escrita por Najat El Hachmi, fue galardonada con el Premi Ramon Llull 2008 y el Prix Ulysse, además de ser finalista del Prix Méditerranée étranger 2009. Ha sido traducida a diez idiomas.

Najat El Hachmi is a Moroccan-Spanish writer based in Catalonia. She holds a degree in Arabic Studies from the University of Barcelona. She is the author of a personal essay on her bicultural identity, and three previous novels, the first of which earned her the 2008 Ramon Llull Prize, the 2009 Prix Ulysse, and was a finalist for the 2009 Prix Méditerranée Étranger.
